What does it feel like to be just feet away from a lioness? Or to fall asleep to the sound of hippos just outside your tent? In this episode, I share the raw, beautiful, and surprising moments from my recent safari in Kenya.
This trip gave me the chance to connect with people, wildlife, and the land in ways I never expected. We visited a small village where the community welcomed us with open arms and hearts. They gave us food, shared stories, and taught us about real generosity. I talk about bringing coloring books for the children and how something that felt so simple became something so meaningful. Then came the safari itself. On our very first drive, we came across a lioness resting in the road. Over the next few days, we watched wildlife in their natural habitat—elephants walking in herds, zebras crossing in front of us, giraffes munching quietly, and even a pride of lions mid-meal. There were also surprises—a zebra that seemed to be performing just for us, and the ever-present sounds of the wild at night: lions roaring, monkeys calling, and hippos grunting just beyond our tents. I also share what it’s really like to stay in a luxury tent in the Mara during the rainy season, what I packed, and how this experience shifted something in me.
