We’re a little later this month but rest assured our February episode will be sent to you earlier on in the month!</p><p><br></p><p>In January’s episode, we’re talking about a big announcement within the Hamilton Arts Council team, applications to the Indigenous Artists, Themes and Audiences presentation stream within Hamilton Arts Week and events and opportunities happening near you that you can get involved in!</p><p><br></p><p>Hamilton Arts Council is delighted to announce that David Hudson has been promoted to Executive Director.&nbsp;David has been with HAC since 2019, most recently as Artistic Director. David will continue to advance HAC’s artistic vision as he leads the organization into its 55th year of operation. We are grateful to Sheila Whaley for her leadership since 2021 and are pleased that she will be remaining with HAC in a supporting role.</p><p><br></p><p>We are accepting applications to the Indigenous artists, themes and audiences presentation stream for Hamilton Arts Week, taking place June 5-14th, 2024!&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The <em>Indigenous Artists, Themes and Audiences </em>presentation stream is for activities presented by Indigenous artists/delivery teams. They may be events with Indigenous central themes or content, or activities that specifically engage Indigenous audiences.</p><p><br></p><p>Applicants can request between <strong>$500 - $4,000</strong> to participate as ‘Signature Events’ during Arts Week. A complete application will include:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>A published artist profile on The Arty Crowd website</li><li>A completed application form that describes applicants' proposed activities</li><li>A completed budget for applicants' proposed activities</li></ul><p><br></p><p>The deadline to apply is <strong>Sunday, February 11th, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. Gain new skills and insights into the world of theatre, create connections and relationships to working professionals and indigenous peers, in the Piindigen program. Program will take place at Theatre Aquarius with facilitators Carly Anna Billings and Shane Pennells. Apply by February 9th.</li><li>Hamilton Theatre Inc. is holding auditions for <em>THE PROM</em>. on February 3rd and 6th.&nbsp;</li><li>Ontario Arts Council as a grant for theatre projects - closing on February 7th.</li><li>Additionally, Hamilton Music Collective is looking for 10 seasonal summer camp mentors to join their team!&nbsp;</li><li>Applications are open for fringe on the streets 2024. This local program is in part a response to the historical and ongoing lack of accessible theatrical experiences in Hamilton. Selected companies will be paid a presenting fee between $3,000 and $5,000.
