He first broke through in the late 90s with his trance-crossover anthem '<a href=\"https://open.spotify.com/track/5Yp4cdP3KjaPkXt96nHjtx?si=52183106b4f3463e\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Horizons</a>', and quickly became established as an expert producer and DJ. Following his first album '<a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Idiots_Are_Winning\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The Idiots Are Winning</a>', released like almost all of his music on his own label <a href=\"https://bordercommunity.bandcamp.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Border Community</a> label, his sound has evolved in expansive and unexpected ways, culminating in 2023's '<a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imagine_This_Is_a_High_Dimensional_Space_of_All_Possibilities\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Imagine This Is a High Dimensional Space of All Possibilities</a>' and most recently '<a href=\"https://jamesholden.bandcamp.com/album/the-universe-will-take-care-of-you\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The Universe Will Take Care Of You</a>'&nbsp;with <a href=\"https://waclawzimpel.pl/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Waclaw Zimpel</a>.</p><p><br></p><p>We discuss his changing approaches to making recording and performing, his relationship with nightclubs and DJ culture, the specifics of making his most recent albums, and the nature of music as art.</p><p><br></p><p>We also attempt to get him to dish the dirt on big name DJs but he turns out to be the model of discretion!</p><p><br></p><p>This is a good one, stick it on, and then listen to his recent catalogue - it's truly amazing work.</p><p><br></p><p>--</p><p>If you're into what we're doing here on the pod then you can support the show <a href=\"https://patreon.com/scubaofficial\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">on Patreon!</a> There are two tiers - \"Solidarity\" for $4 a month, which features the show without ads, regular bonus podcasts, and extra content.
