He argues that intelligence and experience in banking do not automatically make someone an effective political leader. Drawing a historical contrast between Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill, LeDrew says judgment, character, debate and respect for democratic institutions matter just as much.
He also takes aim at the media, arguing that politicians are too often allowed to make sweeping claims without serious challenge.
His demand is simple: recall Parliament, explain where Canada is going and let Canadians hear the debate.
