A British franchise of video games featuring the titular characters Banjo the bear and Kazooie the bird going on various adventures. The series began in 1998 with the release of Banjo-Kazooie on the Nintendo 64. The series and characters were developed by Rare and published by Nintendo, who at the time had an exclusive publishing agreement together. In 2000, a direct sequel to the original game, Banjo-Tooie, was released.
