Teresa Byrne is from Lispatrick, which is just beside the Connaught centre of excellence on the way from Knock to Ballyhaunis.
In 1951, Teresa and her sister Kathleen stood at the crossroad junction of Reisk to wave at the newly crowned All-Ireland champions as they returned home from Dublin to Mayo.
On Tuesday evening, Teresa stood at the very same junction 75 years later, as we gathered with the local community to wave at the Mayo team as they passed on their way to Ballyhaunis.
To her astonishment, the bus stopped at the junction and the Sam Maguire cup was taken out of the bus at Reisk with Andy, Jack and some other members of the team.
