On January 15th 2023, 69-year-old, Patrick Rowland from Lahardane, was admitted to Mayo University Hospital with pneumonia and sepsis. Two days later, Patrick's body was recovered from a waterway outside Castlebar town after Mr Rowland absconded from the hospital.
Last month, the family of Patrick Rowland received an apology from Mayo University Hospital following a mediation process. Patrick Rowland's son Cormac and Senior Counsel Roger Murray (Callan Tansey Solictors) joined Tommy Marren on air to discuss the tragedy and what lessons can be learned.
