When he retired in 1997 he had 879 career victories, which was the&nbsp;<a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">NCAA Division I</a>&nbsp;men's basketball record at that time.
