It is a one-act play set in the lobby of a small hotel on a West Side street in Midtown Manhattan, New York, during the summer of 1928. Only characters exist in the play - small-time gambler Erie Smith and Hotel night clerk Charlie Hughes. Pacino played the role of Erie Smith in each production. </p><p><br></p><p>Costume designer Candice Donnelly joins the podcast to discuss working on the stage production. She talks about what designs Pacino wanted for the clothes, why he didn't care about fitted shoes and how he never wanted to try any of the clothes on.
