Speaking of Alps, the team also looks breathlessly ahead to a final week that serves up a generous portion of the things, but only after a none-too trifling aperitif against the clock.

The second rest day of the 1975 Tour came immediately after THAT stage on the Puy du Dome when Merckx was punched by a spectator while leading the race.
