On&nbsp;June 24, 1973, a fire tore through the second-floor lounge in New Orleans’ French Quarter, killing&nbsp;32 people. The tragedy devastated the local LGBTQ+ community and exposed the discrimination many gay and lesbian Americans faced at the time.
