As the director and founder of Colorado Womens Center, Kendra Miguez has worked for many years in the fields of psychotherapy and counseling. After years of running a full private practice focusing solely on womens health, Kendra decided to model what she preached. With grit and grace, she took a leap of faith and opened her own female empowerment center. Her dream quickly became a reality as she soon found herself working in a beautiful environment, surrounded by like-minded professionals who, as a team, expanded the reach within the community, helping as many women as possible access personal empowerment and freedom. Kendra believes that there is an innate goodness and capability for growth in every individual. She uses a nonjudgmental, compassionate approach to assist her clients in finding their own empowerment. Through validation, acceptance, and a strong focus on mindfulness, Kendra meets her clients wherever they are in the growth process. She encourages clients to find themselves within, while she supports them through the shadows. She helps people become their own best friend, because she strongly believes that this type of internal work is necessary for positive transformation. Throughout the process, she uses skills attained from her education in both child and adult psychology to honor the child and the adult within each individual. Kendra is also a long-time practitioner of yoga and strongly believes in the importance of a healthy relationship between the mind and the body. Kendra has specialized training in various modalities of therapy, including Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Transpersonal Counseling, Somatic Therapy, Howard Gardners Multiple Intelligences, Yoga and Meditation, and the Enneagram. Kendra holds two Masters degrees in psychology (Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University). While pursuing her Masters in Educational Psychology, Kendra gained a strong understanding of child development from birth to adulthood. This knowledge allowed her to fully appreciate the cognitive, emotional, physical, social, and educational growth a human being experiences throughout the lifespan. Studying children also allowed her to make close connections with parents, and it was the appreciation of these intimate experiences that ultimately guided her to pursue another Masters degree, this time focusing primarily on adult behavior. In addition, Kendra is a wife to an amazing man who is her greatest supporter. She is also a mother of two young boys and a stepmother of one, all of which keeps her very busy with laughter, adventure, and insurmountable love. In her free time, Kendra enjoys reading, laughing, watching soccer, being in nature, playing with her two goldendoodles, listening to podcasts, learning about space, practicing yoga, researching biology and natural medicine, and spending time with family and friends.
