The US Justice Department has charged two former senior FBI officials, Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, over statements they made to Congress concerning the bureau’s handling of investigations related to Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The charges were announced on October 23, 2026. According to prosecutors, the former officials made false statements during congressional testimony in 2023 about their knowledge of the laptop investigation and their involvement in discussions surrounding it.
Both previously held leadership roles in the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force, which focused on identifying and countering foreign interference in US elections.
