Shalina was just 15 months old when her father left.  And that moment changed her life forever.  Shalina was now fatherless.  And that was heartbreaking and traumatic and overwhelming.  It changed what she believed about herself.  She felt deeply abandoned, worthless and disconnected from so many things.  And the same questions continued to haunt Shalina throughout her life... Why did he leave me?  Why didn't he choose to stay?  Did I do something wrong?  Shalina has come so far since those younger struggles, but the hurt is palpable and real and raw.  Fatherlessness comes in many forms and all of them are grief for what has been lost and what could have been.
