On this episode we discuss the 8a business development program, timing in leveraging this program as a tool, current concerns around the program, and how you can leverage resources from SBA in your government contracting journey. The recent U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee ruling has created concern and uncertainty regarding the future value of the program – designed to create equity and inclusiveness for disadvantaged groups in the United States, now under fire for that very reason. Timing is everything, but how do you plan & pivot with so many variables that are completely out of your control and can happen at any time?
Larry G. Webb is the District Director for the Washington Metropolitan Area District Office (WMADO) of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). He leads a team that supports small businesses throughout the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Suburban Maryland. His most recent position was lead attorney for SBA’s Outreach and Marketing Team, during which he oversaw public-private partnerships, gifts to the Agency, memoranda of understanding, branding, social media, and marketing.
