One such murder involved the publicly hated land agent John Henry Blake. </p><p>Blake became the face of a despised system, that allowed absentee landlords to hide in Britain and continue to collect millions of pounds from Irish land and farmers. Despite claiming plenty of money for himself through this system, it ultimately left a target on Blake's back.
