What if humility isn’t something you’re supposed to wait for God to teach you—but something you’re supposed to choose?

It’s easy to coast. You can be successful, lead a family, build a business, serve others, and even speak about God while still allowing pride, resentment, unforgiveness, and complacency to quietly remain beneath the surface.
But spiritual maturity isn’t measured by influence, accomplishments, or even how much Scripture you know. It’s revealed through obedience, humility, repentance, forgiveness, gratitude, self-control, and the ability to receive correction.
Jesus voluntarily humbled Himself in obedience to the Father. King Nebuchadnezzar chose the opposite path—exalting himself until God brought him low.
The lesson is simple but challenging:
Humility is coming either way. The question is whether you will humble yourself or wait until God has to humble you.
Ed explores what it means to deliberately take the lower position, especially as a husband, father, leader, and person of influence. True leadership isn’t about what you believe you deserve. It’s about what you are willing to give.
This episode is an invitation to look inward and ask:
Where in my life do I already know I need to humble myself?
And instead of waiting for circumstances to force the change—what would happen if I chose it voluntarily?
Because when we stop trying to elevate ourselves and allow God to determine our position, we make room for Him to do the lifting.
