The Italy Men's National Team are not certain of their place in the 2024 European Championship round of 16 after a 1-0 defeat to Spain in Gelsenkirchen.
Luciano Spalletti's side came into the game against La Roja knowing that a win would see them through to the knockout stages, but they were overawed by a Spain side that was crisp in the pass and could waltz into the final third with ease.
The fact that only one goal separated the sides by the final whistle was only down to the great display from Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper made a string of great saves to keep Italy in it, but an equaliser would have been wholly undeserved.
