Lovis Heuss finished their Master’s in Transdisciplinary Studies in Summer 2025. As a neurodivergent and queer performer, their artistic and activist practice joins movement, music and drag, an amalgamation that led to Lovis’ thesis project called «un//masking the performing arts». The thesis, consisting of a four-part zine collection and a «glossary attempt», as Lovis puts it, is the result of a collective investigation into (un)masking practices for neuroqueer performing artists. In conversation with Diversity Spotlight host Smilla Diener, Lovis speaks about guiding collective workshops, searching for a vocabulary to transport a neuroqueer performer’s experience, and the process of claiming a methodology as an artist.

Lovis Heuss schloss im Sommer 2025 den Master in Transdisziplinären Studien ab. Als neurodivergente*r und queere*r Performer*in verbindet Lovis’ künstlerische und aktivistische Praxis Bewegung, Musik und Drag, eine Verschmelzung, die in Lovis’ Thesis mit dem Titel «un//masking the performing arts» mündete. Die Abschlussarbeit, bestehend aus einer vierteiligen Zine-Sammlung und einem „Glossarversuch”, wie Lovis es nennt, ist das Ergebnis einer kollektiven Untersuchung von (un)masking-Praktiken für neuroqueere Performer*innen. Im Gespräch mit Smilla Diener, Host von Diversity Spotlight, spricht Lovis über kollektive Workshops; Vokabular, das Erfahrungen neuroqueerer Performer*innen vermittelt, und was es bedeutet, als Künstler*in eine Methodik zu entwickeln.
