On its surface, a human figure stands in a pose that some researchers believe represents the constellation Orion. Deep within caves from that same era, paintings depict other familiar celestial forms, like Taurus, occupying the ancient sky then just as they do now. While it is nearly impossible to trace the exact moment our ancestors first looked up and traced these glowing patterns of light, astrology grew directly out of their deep desire to understand the universe and read the will of the gods.
