Trust me, Christopher could whip up a pic and some words but Jeffrey might struggle with conjuring the pristine audio experience Christopher likes to cook up in the kitchen for all of y’all week in and week out, even when some of the ingredients he gets are not ideal … this week’s recording notwithstanding! Wink wink nudge nudge.
But back to what we’re doing today. ALBUM CLUB IS BACK BABY! And we have arrived at our Kate Bush season. Kate Bush is announcing the end of Summer. Kate Bush is announcing the beginning of Autumn. Kate Bush is announcing … the beginning of our Kate Bush era!! Well, at least for one of us … ! We may not always collectively adore and connect with every album we study on album club (because truly, whether we accumulate 8 listens or 20+ plus, we are out here in our real lives studying! While we tidy the house or go for runs, but still!!) but we will always try to learn something from what we listen to. Which is kind of the journey we’re on with this podcast generally. Learning and growing in good company. The dream! And hey, sometimes we can get stuck in a rut and sometimes we’ll enjoy a massive eye and mind-opening moment. Such is life. But with music in particular, we just love the album form. We grew up with it and refuse to let it die. And so to whoever’s album we are listening to, we guarantee we will give it ample time and the special kind of precious attention that musicians can (hopefully!) still muster in our attention-starved and algorithmically ruled world.
Now Kate is famously a world class yearner and today so are we folks. We yearn for a beautiful spin-off show that we release monthly … no … quarterly/seasonally … no biannually … basis! With like the BEST audio too. That will clearly be in the Patreon era. Imagine just handing that over for free lol. For now, in the low stakes back-end of Season 7 … let’s just stick to album clubs being an EVERY NOW AND AGAIN affair.
