McCarthy missed out on the Player of the Year award, despite getting nominated for a third successive season, as Galway’s Aoife Donohue collected the award.
We couldn’t miss giving the Irish soccer team a mention after their heroics in seeing off Portugal and Hungary to clinch a World Cup play-off in March.
A huge boost to the nation after Troy Parrott hit five goals in two games. Unexpected too.
There were also county final defeats for Ilen Rovers and Bandon while Kilmacabea and Ibane Gaels are in action this coming weekend.
