Last week, I broke down the complex structure of the foot and explained how joints in the ankle, subtalar joint, and midfoot work together to create stability and movement.</p><p><br></p><p>Today, I explain what happens when those joints begin to lose end-range mobility. When that mobility is lost, pressure shifts through the foot and creates a cascade that can lead to plantar fasciitis, bunions, hammer toes, and pain that travels up the chain into the knees, hips, and low back.</p><p><br></p><p>I also talk about how modern footwear can contribute to these issues by limiting the natural mechanics your feet need to function properly.
