Carol’s since been described as \"part-psychoanalyst, part-detective, part-social historian\". And her films involve a lot of passion, research, tenacity and experimentation with form.&nbsp;</p><p>Her latest release is called <a href=\"https://www.modernfilms.com/typist\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Typist, Artist, Pirate, King</a>. It stars Monica Dolan as <a href=\"https://wellcomecollection.org/articles/Y_OEfBQAACUAq4HJ\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Audrey Amiss</a>, an artist Carol believes should be widely known. And who she brings vividly to life, in a fictional road trip to Sunderland (accompanied by a psychiatric nurse played by Kelly MacDonald).</p><p>In this interview, Carol reflects on her childhood, processing the loss of her father to suicide, her path into filmmaking, a brilliant teacher - and a few of her creations, including <a href=\"https://www.bfi.org.uk/film/b07d7c51-a800-5730-8824-17d26eb0de7e/dreams-of-a-life\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Dreams of a Life</a>.</p><p>Related links:</p><p>Find Carol's other films at <a href=\"https://www.campfilms.co.uk/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Cannon and Morley Productions</a></p><p><a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2016/nov/20/carol-morley-discovers-amazing-life-of-artist-audrey-amiss\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The amazing undiscovered life of Audrey the artist</a> (Carol's article for the Observer)</p><p>Her semi-autobiographical novel <a href=\"https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/7-miles-out-carol-morley/4461304?ean=9781910536155\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">7 Miles Out</a></p><p><a href=\"https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct4yfz\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">In The Studio: Carol Morley</a> (BBC World Service)</p><p><a href=\"https://whatson.bfi.org.uk/Online/default.asp?BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::permalink=murielbox&amp;BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::context_id=\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Muriel Box</a>: Britain's most prolific female director</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><h1><br></h1><h1><br></h1>","author_name":"Jon Snow"}
