For the final episode of 2024, Nichole is going seasonal with 2021’s French horror film, The Advent Calendar - a film that mixes fairy tale or parable vibes with the tried and true enchanted/evil object (think a Monkey’s Paw type story, but make it Christmas!)
There are time-tested tropes around disability and disabled characters, but the film gives breathing space to encourage reflection on the inner conflict of internalized ableism and the battle with self-doubt that comes with being employed and disabled.
