In this interview, Grammy-winning, Tony-nominated composer John Du Prez and director Jay Levey discuss their cult-hit 1989 film UHF, starring "Weird Al" Yankovic.
Du Prez’s brilliant, genre-hopping score has never been available to the public until now, released for the movie's 37th anniversary. On Saturday, October 31, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles will host a special screening of UHF, with a live orchestra, plus Weird Al and Special Guests. Link for tickets.
Yankovic co-wrote and starred in the film as George Newman, a misfit and a dreamer who can't find his place in life until his Uncle Harvey wins a little UHF TV station in a poker game and gives it to his nephew to run. The movie co-starred screen legend Kevin McCarthy, a pre-Seinfeld Michael Richards, a pre-The Nanny Fran Drescher, and SNL’s Victoria Jackson.
