Former NHLer and NHL Network analyst Jason Demers joins Nick Alberga & Jay Rosehill to break down Toronto’s 5-2 loss in Calgary and assess the Maple Leafs through 14 games.
Demers reacts to Matvei Gridin’s Griddy celebration, shares his overall impression of the Leafs, and explains why Easton Cowan has been his biggest storyline of the season. Plus, he discusses Toronto’s strong special teams, the Bobrovsky-Stolarz goaltending battle, and what the Leafs need to add defensively to solidify their playoff chances.
The boys also dive into Cowan’s response after a tough first period in Calgary, the impact of Kirill Marchenko’s injury, and the early returns on the blockbuster Matthew Knies-Marchenko trade. Demers breaks down what makes Marchenko so dangerous, highlighting his speed, release, and hockey IQ.
Finally, Demers discusses Ivar Stenberg’s performance in San Jose and weighs in on the comparison between Stenberg and Gavin McKenna.
