Former Maple Leaf & TSN Hockey Analyst Frankie Corrado joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill to break down the current state of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
First, he weighed in on the big Matthew Knies trade rumour after Nick Kypreos reported that the Leafs and Montreal Canadiens discussed a potential deal prior to the trade deadline. Corrado talked through the pros and cons of moving Knies right now and whether it would make sense for Toronto to even consider it.
He also shared his thoughts on the trade deadline, the organization’s current plan, and where things stand for the team during this difficult stretch. Corrado reflected on his experience with the 2015-16 Leafs team that bottomed out and ultimately landed Auston Matthews first overall, and how that situation compares to what Toronto is going through today.
Additionally, the guys discussed the future of head coach Craig Berube, what needs to change with this group moving forward, and why the team has looked so lifeless lately.
