“I Was Really Isolated” is a conversation with a Black, Materials Science graduate student working in a physics lab. We discuss his experiences in a lab where the professor’s verbal and sexual harassment create a hostile work environment, and what considerations prevent him from reporting it. He further describes how his working-class background affects access to educational resources and inclusion in professional societies.
