Racism and political interference turned a peaceful movement into a violent act of state aggression on September 6, 1995. This episode recalls the events of that night, and examines the fallout in the 28 years since, asking if reconciliation will ever be possible for the people of Stoney Point.</p><p><br></p><p>In this podcast: interviews include Bonnie Bressette, Caroline “Cully” George, Pierre George, Kevin Simon, Claudette Bressette, Alabama Bressette, and Donald Worme.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>The episode is in memory of Anthony “Dudley” George.</p><p><br></p><p>Deep thanks to Heather Menzies editor, and Kerry Kilmartin publisher of “<a href=\"https://amzn.to/3u0Rqpn\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Our Long Struggle for Home: The Ipperwash</a>” by Aazhoodenaang Enjibaajig&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Host: Karyn Pugliese</p><p>Credits: Karyn Pugliese (Producer), Kim Wheeler (Producer)&nbsp;</p><p>Research for this episode included:</p><p><br></p><ul><li><a href=\"https://amzn.to/3u0Rqpn\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Our Long Struggle for Home: The Ipperwash by Aazhoodenaang Enjibaajig</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li><a href=\"https://www.ontario.ca/page/ipperwash-inquiry-report\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">The Ipperwash Inquiry Report: A road map to better relationships between Aboriginal people and the Ontario government</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/45322/one-dead-indian-by-peter-edwards/9780771030475\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">One Dead Indian: The Premier, the Police, and the Ipperwash Crisis, a book by Canadian investigative journalist Peter Edwards</a></li></ul><p><br></p><p>Sound in this podcast included:</p><p><br></p><ul><li><a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/FarewellDavidson/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">“Late Night news (Problems) by Farewell Davidson</a>&nbsp;</li><li><a href=\"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6T_T-bRwDY\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">G20 Protests in Toronto Turn Ugly</a> recorded by <a href=\"https://www.stormchaser.ca\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">George Kourounis</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.aptnnews.ca/national-news/a-look-back-at-ipperwash-and-dudley-georges-death/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">A look back at Ipperwash and Dudley George's death</a>, APTN by Mark Blackburn June 06, 2013</li><li>\"Act Naturally\" by Buck Owens</li><li>Theme music from “Dudley Do-Right” cartoon</li><li>Dudley Do-Right \"Marigolds\" episode</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Listen to <a href=\"https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/maxed-out/id1654545187\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Maxed Out</a>, a podcast by Canada’s National Observer</p><p><br></p><p>CANADALANDBACK is a co-production from Canada's National Observer &amp; Canadaland</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Sponsors: <a href=\"https://douglas.ca/canadaland\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Douglas</a>, <a href=\"https://freshbooks.com/canadaland\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Freshbooks</a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>If you value this podcast,<a href=\"https://canadalandnetwork.supercast.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Support us</a>!
