Part of the 'Marx Matters' series. Vijay Prashad will look at the influence of Marx's ideas in terms of the poorer nations' struggles for liberation, seeing the Global South as a term that properly refers not to just geographical space but to a concatenation of protests against neoliberalism.
Vijay is an Indian historian and journalist. He is the author of forty books, including 'Washington Bullets,' 'Red Star Over the Third World, ''The Darker Nations: A People’s History of the Third World,' 'The Poorer Nations: A Possible History of the Global South,' and 'The Withdrawal: Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and the Fragility of U.S. Power.' His most recent book, written with Grieve Chelwa, is 'How the International Monetary Fund Suffocates Africa.' He also appeared in the films Shadow World (2016) and Two Meetings (2017).
