Their music is crafted from hours of studio improvisations that have been chopped-up, rearranged, and layered with live instrumentation provided by the band members. In this chat, Aver explains their technique and process as well as how it extends to their live performances. It’s amazing.&nbsp;</p><p>Move 78’s name is taken from a match of the ancient Chinese board game <em>Go</em> between Lee Sedol, the world champion of <em>Go</em> at the time of the match, and a computer program named AlphaGo. Lee was defeated in the first three games of the five-game match by his AI opponent, but he adapted and played a move so strange that it completely befuddled AlphaGo and its algorithms. This move, which represented the human response to the challenges of an ever-evolving technological world, was, of course, <strong>Move 78</strong>.</p><p>------------------</p><p><strong>Dig Deeper</strong></p><ul><li>Listen to Move 78’s <em>Automated Improvisation</em> on<a href=\"https://move78.bandcamp.com/album/automated-improvisation\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Bandcamp</a> or<a href=\"https://songwhip.com/move78/automated-improvisation\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> your streaming platform of choice</a></li><li>Follow Move 78 on<a href=\"https://www.instagram.com/move78insta/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Instagram</a> and<a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/MOVE78\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Facebook</a></li><li>Follow Aver on<a href=\"https://www.instagram.com/aver_gram/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Instagram</a> and<a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/AverTNC/about\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Facebook</a></li><li><a href=\"https://youtu.be/waliXUCJyuQ?si=a5UWbMIXWo6Nz80Z\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Move 78 - “Middling” [Live At Badehaus]</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2016/03/two-moves-alphago-lee-sedol-redefined-future/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">In Two Moves, AlphaGo and Lee Sedol Redefined the Future</a></li><li><a href=\"https://f4.bcbits.com/img/a0962431767_10.jpg\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Move 78’s Go-inspired artwork</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.faber.co.uk/product/9780571374489-unapologetic-expression/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Unapologetic Expression: The Inside Story of the UK Jazz Explosion</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/feb/16/gilles-peterson-club-culture-jazz-nubya-garcia-nightports-shabaka-hutchings\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Gilles Peterson: ‘The boundary between club culture and jazz is finally breaking’</a></li><li><a href=\"https://www.npr.org/2012/11/17/165145271/dj-shadow-on-sampling-as-a-collage-of-mistakes\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">DJ Shadow On Sampling As A ‘Collage Of Mistakes’</a></li><li><a href=\"https://nialler9.com/el-p-productions-10-great/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">El-P: 10 of his best productions</a></li><li><a href=\"https://youtu.be/uSPFHT8Eo64?si=940CYNm9qQ1AL9iy\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">DJ Shadow &amp; Cut Chemist - <em>Product Placement</em></a></li></ul><p>------------------</p><p>• Did you enjoy this episode?
