On the 16th day of the trial of Russell Brand, the defence delivered their closing statement.
The defence argued media reports in 2023 had “poisoned the well” against Brand, causing women to “reimagine” consensual sexual encounters and come forward to make complaints to police. Ian Winter KC also argued the time taken for these women to come forward was a “corrupter of justice” and there was no reasonable explanation for the delay.
