BREAKING: The Connor Hellebuyck trade saga may be coming to an end, with reports that the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets are working on a deal. On today's edition of Daily Faceoff Live, Tyler breaks down the latest developments with Jeff Marek and explores what a blockbuster move could mean for both teams and the rest of the NHL.
What might Winnipeg receive in return for its superstar goaltender? Could Dawson Mercer or Seamus Casey be involved, and how would New Jersey make the salary-cap numbers work? The guys also discuss which teams missed out on Hellebuyck, whether Carolina, Utah or Buffalo could pivot to another target, and whether the Devils could still pursue Dylan Larkin or Quinn Hughes later this season.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl also delivered a performance for the ages, combining for 10 points against Carolina.
McDavid recorded five points to set an Edmonton Oilers franchise record for points through the first 10 games of a season, while Draisaitl continued his incredible goal-scoring start. The guys break down one of the most explosive offensive performances of the young season.
Jeff Marek also weighs in on Dylan Larkin's expanded trade list and why his situation differs from those of Matthew Tkachuk and Quinn Hughes. Plus, the crew previews the weekend's NHL action, including the Heritage Classic, and pays tribute to Michael DiPietro after his first career shutout on Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
