{"version":"1.0","type":"rich","provider_name":"Acast","provider_url":"https://acast.com","height":250,"width":700,"html":"<iframe src=\"https://embed.acast.com/$/628b2938bf78780012cf78fb/6340d41352bab90012bd836d?\" frameBorder=\"0\" width=\"700\" height=\"250\"></iframe>","title":"The Walsh Street Police Shootings","thumbnail_width":200,"thumbnail_height":200,"thumbnail_url":"https://open-images.acast.com/shows/628b2938bf78780012cf78fb/1653293635759-989f78bae35b01c4059fa83af9392943.jpeg?height=200","description":"<p>The Walsh Street police shootings were the 1988 <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">murders</a> of two <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Police\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Victoria Police</a> officers: Constables Steven Tynan, 22, and Damian Eyre, 20.</p><p>Tynan and Eyre were responding to a report of an abandoned car when they were gunned down about 4:50am in Walsh Street, <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Yarra\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">South Yarra</a> (a <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Melbourne</a> suburb), on 12 October 1988.</p><p><br></p><p>Four men, <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Peirce\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Peirce</a>, <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pettingill_family#Trevor_Pettingill\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Pettingill</a>, Anthony Leigh Farrell and Peter David McEvoy, were charged with murder and later <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acquit\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">acquitted</a> by a jury in the <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Court_of_Victoria\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Supreme Court of Victoria</a>.
