The Walker Cup is coming to Lahinch.
But what does it actually mean to the people who call Lahinch Golf Club home?
In the second installment of the PaddyTalks Golf Walker Cup Series, I sit down with Miriam O'Keeffe, Lahinch's Women's Captain for 2026 and John Gleeson, Lahinch's Men's Captain for 2026, to talk about the club they know, love and represent in one of the biggest years in its history.
For Miriam, Lahinch became home from the very beginning. Her earliest golfing memories at the club date back to 1981, when she met her husband Kevin there, and she talks about the friendships, family and sense of belonging that have made Lahinch so special to her.
For John, his Lahinch story began in 1974 when he first arrived at the club as a UCD student playing in the annual match between UCD and Lahinch. He would return to play in the South of Ireland before eventually becoming a member and more than 50 years after his first visit, the club's Men's Captain in the year the Walker Cup comes to town.
