🚨 MAX DOWMAN'S RED CARD APPEAL REJECTED! BUT ARSENAL COULD RECEIVE MAJOR INJURY BOOSTS!
Arsenal have suffered another setback following their shock Carabao Cup elimination against Fleetwood Town, with the FA rejecting their appeal against MAX DOWMAN'S THREE-MATCH SUSPENSION!
The 16-year-old will now miss Arsenal's upcoming Premier League fixtures against Liverpool, Hull City and Newcastle United, further limiting Mikel Arteta's attacking options.
But there could be some much-needed good news ahead of Sunday's huge clash at Anfield, with DECLAN RICE, NONI MADUEKE and CHRISTOS TZOLIS all potentially available!
In today's Arsenal News Show, Tom Canton breaks down the Dowman decision, Arsenal's latest injury updates and the biggest questions for Arteta ahead of his Liverpool press conference.
🟥 DOWMAN APPEAL REJECTED — THREE-MATCH BAN CONFIRMED!
The FA's independent Regulatory Commission has rejected Arsenal's claims of wrongful dismissal and excessive punishment following Dowman's red card against Fleetwood Town.
The teenager was dismissed after reacting to a challenge from Harrison Neal, with the incident judged to constitute violent conduct.
But was the punishment fair? Should the challenge on Dowman have received greater scrutiny? And how should Arteta manage the development of one of Arsenal's brightest young talents?
Importantly, Dowman remains eligible for Arsenal's Champions League fixtures because the suspension applies to domestic competition.
💪 TRIPLE ARSENAL INJURY BOOST INCOMING?
There is optimism that DECLAN RICE and NONI MADUEKE could recover in time to face Liverpool.
Rice has been managing hamstring tightness, while Madueke missed the Fleetwood match because of an ankle problem.
Meanwhile, CHRISTOS TZOLIS is progressing in his recovery from a hamstring injury and could return to the squad if he comes through training successfully.
We also discuss William Saliba's progress, Riccardo Calafiori's fitness and Arsenal's ongoing concerns surrounding Bukayo Saka.
