Jesus said His sheep know His voice and will run from the voice of a stranger. But what happens when the strange voices have become familiar? We can become so accustomed to the voice of fear, failure, disappointment, religion, our past, or even our own reasoning that we recognize those voices more quickly than we recognize the voice of our Shepherd.
In this episode of Teach and Talk, Lisa Schwarz explores John 10 and what it means to truly know the voice of God. Hearing Him isn't simply about receiving direction. It's about becoming so familiar with His heart and His nature that you can recognize what sounds like Him and what doesn't.
Lisa also challenges us to consider whether we are listening for what God is saying in this particular season. There may be things He has called you to, but knowing His voice means also knowing when to move, when to wait, and when to silence everything competing for your attention.
The goal isn't to become better at chasing words from God. It's to know Him. Spend time with the Shepherd. Learn His heart. Become familiar with His voice. Then when He moves, you'll recognize Him and be ready to follow.
