Natural killer (NK) cells are cytotoxic immune cells that play an important role in the defense against cancer. Genetic manipulation of NK cells to improve their persistence, tumor-targeting capacity, and the ability to home to disease sites in vivo may further enhance the efficacy of NK cell-based cancer immunotherapy.
