While clearing a fire trail through a gully in the dense forest between Torrington and Tenterfield, New South Wales, Eric unexpectedly came face to face with a creature he had never seen before.
The encounter occurred at a close distance of about five metres. Eric described the creature as standing at least 5’10” tall, walking on two legs, and possessing a snout that resembled those of a bear or a baboon. Its body appeared human-like, yet was completely covered in long, dark brown or black hair.
Upon noticing Eric, the creature emitted a loud hissing noise, then turned swiftly and ran away. In its retreat, it dropped to all fours, increasing its speed as it disappeared into the forest.
The fearsome nature of the creature left a strong impression on Eric. Later, he learned that a property owner in the same area had also reported seeing this mysterious Yowie.
