At the age of 32, Jermaine was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and spent 5 consecutive days in ICU following a blood sugar reading of 1,100mg/dL (61mmol/L)!</p><p><br></p><p>Jermaine takes us through his initial struggle to adapt to his new ‘Diabetic life’, insulin affordability in the US, and how he quickly gained a new, more positive outlook on life.</p><p><br></p><p>Jermaine is the creator of the world’s first Type 1 Diabetic superhero - Gumshe (<a href=\"https://gumshe.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">gumshe.com</a>). Gumshe: The Type 1 Protector is a 3D animated health and wellness movie about an African American Type 1 Diabetic superhero named Gumshe.</p><p><br></p><p>The purpose of this movie is to Entertain, Educate and Empower.
