Whenever we avoid discussing death in front of our children, we might think we are sparing them suffering, but we are not. Keeping things from children only creates more room for fear than anything; it is not protection.


In this episode, I'm excited to be joined by the Community Doula and death literacy advocate Francesca Lynn Arnoldy. She is the Author of \"Cultivating the Doula Heart,\" \"The Doula's Guide to Living Fully and Dying Prepared,\" and the children's book \"Map Of Memory Lane,\" a beautifully illustrated story especially designed to deal with kids' curious nature and help them find an answer to some of their big questions about death and grief. 


Throughout this episode, Francesca talks about her journey from childbirth educator to writing and educating about the \"other end of life.\" She shares details of that process, which ended up with her developing the University of Vermont's End-of-Life Doula Professional Certificate Programs. 


Francesca also offers guidance on how to approach discussions about death, grief, and loss with children, what we can do to help them develop the language to deal with it, how to make them feel safe, and more.
