So how do we manage this? According to <a href=\"https://www.tiktok.com/@kdimerc/video/7572329106084236575\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">kdimerc</a> we can:</p><p><br></p><ol><li><strong>Remove all unnecessary stoves.</strong> Look at the task objectively and ask yourself, “is this task really necessary or important?” If it’s not - take it off the burner completely, for now.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Turn off the stove, if you are able to!</strong> This will be different for everyone, but it’s typically the things I suggest on this podcast to help you get motivated. Things like body doubling, brain hacks, pairing actions with other triggers, like this podcast, or songs, therapy and medication may help to turn off, or at least, turn down the heat on these stoves.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Get really good at touching hot stoves. </strong>Like we have been discussing recently on the podcast, building your tolerance for distress is seemingly less and less optional at this point. But unfortunately there will be times where you can’t ignore a task, and you can’t make it less daunting, so you just have to power through the dread and do it anyway.&nbsp;</li></ol><p><br></p><p><em>While you may not be able to control your motivation to do a daunting task, you can control your mindset around it. You can come to accept the dread as part of the process.&nbsp;</em></p><p><br></p><p>Watch <a href=\"https://www.tiktok.com/@kdimerc/video/7572329106084236575\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Kdimerc’s video on the \"Hot Stove Conundrum\" </a></p><p>Read <a href=\"https://medium.com/@welovebeautifulchaos/what-adhd-has-to-do-with-hot-stovetops-ec9a9ac9eee7\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Beautiful Chaos’ blog post on \"ADHD + The Hot Stovetop\"&nbsp;</a></p><p><br></p><p>Try&nbsp;Huel&nbsp;with 15% OFF for New Customers today using code <strong>MYDB</strong> at&nbsp;<a href=\"https://huel.com/mydb\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">https://huel.com/mydb</a>.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>SUPPORT<a href=\"https://supporter.acast.com/make-your-damn-bed\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> JULIE (and the show!)</a></p><p>DONATE to the<a href=\"https://open.acast.com/networks/6152264dc28ad2001383af43/shows/6152264dc28ad2001383af42/episodes/www.pcrf.net\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> Palestinian Children's Relief Fund </a>AND THE <a href=\"https://sdnrlf.com/#:~:text=Who%20We%20Are,Ways%20to%20Give\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sudan Relief Fund</a></p><p>GET AN OCCASIONAL PERSONAL EMAIL FROM ME:<a href=\"https://open.acast.com/shows/6152264dc28ad2001383af42/episodes/www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"> www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.com</a></p><p>TUNE IN ON <a href=\"https://open.acast.com/networks/6152264dc28ad2001383af43/shows/6152264dc28ad2001383af42/episodes/www.instagram.com/mydbpodcast\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">INSTAGRAM</a> AND<em> </em><a href=\"https://open.acast.com/networks/6152264dc28ad2001383af43/shows/6152264dc28ad2001383af42/episodes/www.youtube.com/juliemerica\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>YOUTUBE</em></a></p><p>SUBSCRIBE FOR BONUS CONTENT ON <a href=\"https://open.acast.com/networks/6152264dc28ad2001383af43/shows/6152264dc28ad2001383af42/episodes/www.patreon.com/MYDBpodcast\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">PATREON</a>.</p><p><br></p><p><em>The opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only.
