Conversations about their lives lead to philosophical reflections, as the mountain challenges their motives. As days go by, the higher altitude and the depletion of oxygen will raise their debate to interior and transcendental territories, putting at stake their trajectories and their egos when facing the mountain and its millenary depth.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Sebastian Cordero</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Sebastian Cordero (1972, Ecuador) graduated in film and script writing from USC. He then returned to Ecuador with the intention of making films in a country where cinema barely exists. His first feature&nbsp;<strong>Ratas, Ratones, Rateros</strong>&nbsp;(shown in Rotterdam in 2000) won several international awards.&nbsp;<strong>Rabia&nbsp;</strong>is his third long feature. He also directed short films and music videos.</p><p><br></p><h3><strong>José Cardoso</strong></h3><p><br></p><p>José Cardoso has developed fiction, animation, and documentary films, on themes revolving around surrealism, consciousness, and anti-colonialism. His previous works as a director have been selected at Sitges Cinema Fantàstic, Havana, Cinélatino de Toulouse, and ImagineNative, among others, and awarded at Ícaro Centroamérica, China International New Media Short Film Festival, Kunturñawi Ecuador, among others.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>He worked for BBC, 100 Women series as film director of the chapter: The Femicide Detectives. After being selected for his first feature film Iwianch, the devil deer» at the 59th Ann Arbor Film Festival, he won the Tom Berman Award for the most promising filmmaker. Nowadays his work «What the Soil Remembers», has premiered at IFFR Rotterdam 2023 where it won the IFFR Ammodo Tiger Short Film Award and was selected at the 67th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen Competition, Durban Film Festival, and&nbsp;Sheffield Documentary Film Festival.</p><p>José is now editing and co-producing Behind the Mist, a documentary by experienced director Sebastián Cordero</p><p><br></p>","author_name":"Martin Lennon"}
