Often touting a one-camera approach, themes of justice, human connectivity and harrowing circumstance emerge throughout his&nbsp;films. From tear-gas filled streets of refugee camps to the open prairies of the American West, Rowley’s voice has earned him the Austin Film Society’s North Texas Pioneer Film Grant twice and four festival jury awards for exceptional work. Rowley’s feature directorial debut,<em>&nbsp;</em><a href=\"https://hurdlefilm.com/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Hurdle</em></a><em>&nbsp;</em>(2019), screened across the international film festival circuit and earned praise from audiences and critics alike. She has directed the documentary film DRONE and Play Again, and has directed and produced the films Independent Intervention and iHuman. She produced Privacy of Wounds in 2018. Her film DRONE won the Norwegian Gullruten award, the Amanda award and the Golden Nymph Award. Hessen Schei studied social anthropology at NTNU before taking a bachelor's degree in film production at the University of Texas, in Austin, USA.
