This week on Unskippable Dialogue, your favourite gaming podcast goes back to Los Santos for a retro review of Grand Theft Auto V, with GTA VI just weeks away.

Conor was there at midnight in 2013 with a copy for the Xbox 360. Thirteen years later, he's replayed the whole story on PS5, and the verdict is strange: the story is much better than he remembered, and the game is, in many ways, much worse. Michael is the best thing Rockstar has written and probably should have been the only protagonist. Trevor is awful and brilliant in equal measure. Franklin needs to get a job. Lamar is goated. The driving is still bad, the side content is still pointless, and the famous torture mission reads very differently in 2026 than it did in the discourse of 2013. Pearse, who has never played GTA V and loves GTA IV, is here to ask the questions and refuse to buy GTA VI the same month as Ocarina of Time. Spoilers for all three endings.

Also in this episode: how the GTA VI launch trailer and that Justice song finally got Conor hyped, GTA IV and why The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were the best DLC ever made, DJ Cara Delevingne, The Getaway and GTA London, Persona 5 on PS Plus, Miss Kitty the cat versus a seagull, what our Patronuses would be, and the Twilight argument nobody asked for.

New to the show?
