He writes for <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Guardian\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Guardian</em></a> and <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnHerd\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>UnHerd</em></a> and is a columnist for <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Soccer_Magazine\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>World Soccer</em></a>.</p><p><br></p><p>In 2011 he founded the quarterly football journal <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blizzard_(magazine)\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Blizzard</em></a>, which he edits.</p><p><br></p><p>His book, <em>Inverting the Pyramid</em> was shortlisted for the <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Hill_Sports_Book_of_the_Year\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">William Hill Sports Book of the Year</a> in 2008, and won 'Best Football Book' at the <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Sports_Book_Awards\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">British Sports Book Awards</a> in 2009. Nine of his other books have also been shortlisted for the award. <em>Inverting the Pyramid</em> also won the Premio Antonio Ghirelli and was shortlisted for the German football book of the year award.</p><p><br></p><p>His book, <em>Angels with Dirty Faces</em>, which covered the history of <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_in_Argentina\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">football in Argentina</a>, won \"Best Football Book\" and \"Best Historical Book\" at the Polish Sports Book Awards (Sportowa Książka Roku) in 2018.
