Considering that death is the one sure thing in life, our society is pretty rubbish at talking about it, and it's terrible at supporting the bereaved. This episode looks at why people are so uncomfortable talking about death, dying, and bereavement. We look at death culture through the ages (and a little about different cultures), the five stages of grief and why it may not always be helpful to grievers.
We give examples of dickish things that have been said and offer suggestions for kinder alternatives.
And just a message if you are grieving, you aren't doing it wrong. Although grief is universal, each bereavement is completely unique.
