What is our purpose here as a human being?","description":"
What is our purpose here as a human being?

Steve ~ So Thomas, as human beings, what is our purpose in being here?

Thomas ~ Your purpose is to experience. Not to learn anything. Not to accomplish anything but, simply to experience life as a human.

Steve ~ When you first told me that, it was one of the hardest things to wrap my head around because, I think as humans it is so engrained in us to always try to learn and grow. We think that’s what life is all about. So, why is it that experiencing is really what is important?

Thomas ~ Because in the Light there is nothing to learn. You have all knowledge. So, when you plan your life and when you plan to become human and have this experience. There are certain things that you put in there that you want to experience. So, maybe you could say that is your purpose, to fulfill your life plan. When you become human, even if you don’t fulfill everything you had planned that you thought you were going to. You’re still getting the experience. That’s really why you’re here.

Steve ~ Why is experience important to a spirit?

Thomas ~ To keep the Light stronger. There are some that have chosen to go from the Light and be in darkness. The Light wants to bring them home. We miss them. They are part of us. So, by experiencing, it gives you physical feelings and a way to relate to the darkness, in order to help it. And bring it back home again.

Alison ~ So, we choose to be here. We come into experience. So, we don’t have to have necessarily a purpose. T’s not about ascending or reaching a certain stage. Because we get to choose whatever we want to experience, light or darkness?

Thomas ~ You do. It’s all up to you what you choose. Regardless of what you choose, you’re coming back home to the Light. When you’re finished here. It doesn’t matter what you accomplish or don’t accomplish, experience or don’t experience. For some humans, that have a very strong feeling that they have a definite purpose. That is really coming from…in their planning, they had a goal that was very important to them, that they wanted to meet, during this lifetime. So, that becomes your purpose.

Alison ~ Do they choose that goal?

Thomas ~ In the planning, yes. Absolutely, yes!

Alison ~ Can you talk a little bit more about what that looks like?

Thomas ~ When you’re planning your human existence. You decide everything about you. Your characteristics. Your personality. And you bring that all with you. You choose what part of the planet you want to live on. How long you want to live. Who you want to live around. That’s all part of your choice. And so, you bring that with you. Then when you get here, and you forget your great plan. You become humanized and put into the box. You become conditioned to this is what you must think. This is what they do. This is how you behave. It becomes more of a struggle for you to remember and reach the goals you set for yourself.

Alison ~ So, in some ways you could say, we are from the Oneness. We are the Oneness. We are consciousness expressing itself through an aspect of consciousness. I am Alison in my humanness experiencing. At some point before I came in here, I chose to have this experience. To be an expression of consciousness.

Thomas ~ Yes.

Alison ~ And then it’s all about remembering the Light within and who we are. And where we came from. So, we have access to this knowledge. We’ve just forgotten.

Thomas ~ As a human you don’t have access to all of it. But you can obtain a lot of it. Also, once you become human and you’re making choices and having forgotten your goals. You may not be at all, on the path you thought you would be on. Because you made different choices once you got here.

Alison ~ That’s because we have free will.

Thomas ~ Yes.

Steve ~ And staying on our path or the goals we chose for ourselves before we came here. I would think then that our awakening makes it more likely that we’ll achieve those goals.

Thomas ~ It is a definite step on putting you back on your path and keeping you there. Yes.

Alison ~ And do our guides help us? Do they help us stay on our path?

Thomas ~ Yes. When you wonder off. Your guides will nudge you back. You know, send you little reminders. A lot of times that comes through as being presented an opportunity, that you hadn’t considered. But you choose to take that anyway. And that is your guide, showing you the way back.

Alison ~ So Thomas, if there is no purpose. Why do we have such a strong feeling at times, asking ourselves what our purpose is? Where is that coming from within us?

Thomas ~ Probably from your soul. Your soul is like, if there is no purpose, why can’t I be in the Light? Why can’t I go back? But it knows it’s not time to come back yet. So, therefore, there must be a purpose and that is your soul looking for that. Looking for the way home. It’s almost like your soul is saying, what do I have to do, so I can go home? What is it I need to accomplish?

Alison ~ And yet we chose to be here and we’re here for a reason, to experience.

Steve ~ And you’re saying that our goals and our path are different than our purpose. Because you’re saying there is no purpose but, we do have a path and we do have goals. So, what’s the difference between those two?

Thomas ~ Your goals are your desires. What you wanted. What you look for. Your path is what you designed to get you from being born human, all the way back into the Light. A purpose, there is none. Because you’re coming back. It doesn’t matter what you do or do not do. You’re coming back into the Light, when this is over for you. There is no purpose for you being here and yet here you are.

Steve ~ So, is it ego then that sees us as having a purpose?

Thomas ~ Yes. And ego needs a purpose. It needs a direction to go in.

Steve ~ What would be some examples of egos purpose?

Thomas ~ Let’s say you’re young a teenager. Ego wants to drive, to have a car and drive. That is the purpose. So, ego does things like takes driver’s ed and learn how to reach that purpose. Ego may decide it wants to be a schoolteacher. And so, will work towards that and take whatever steps are necessary. Ego always has a purpose. Once it reaches that purpose, it will design something further out. So, it’s always going forward and looking to do something more. If you were to say to ego, okay, you’re not going to go any farther. You’re not going to learn anymore. You’re not going to make anymore money. You’re not going to travel again. You’re just going to be right here and that’s it. There’s nothing else for you to do. Ego would die. Ego needs something to keep it going.

Steve ~ Whereas, I would think, soul could find something to entertain itself. It could go on journeys.

Thomas ~ Soul is very patient. Soul wants to come back into the Light but, soul knows it will. When it’s time. That might be two years. It might be twenty years. It doesn’t matter to soul.

Alison ~ So, soul knows it doesn’t necessarily have a purpose in the way we think of purpose, on the planet. Soul’s purpose is more…to me, it’s more content in being. The interconnectedness, love and joining with people. It has compassion and empathy.

Thomas ~ Soul’s purpose would be more like; did you see that flower come up through the dirt? Did you see that bird? It’s more the presence, the direct… and soul is more concerned about things, it has no influence over.

Steve ~ Or accomplishing things?

Alison ~ Because that’s ego, right? Achievement?

Thomas ~ Yes. Ego gets satisfaction from completing a difficult assignment or a course. Soul gets satisfaction from watching the grass grow.

Alison ~ You could almost say that our purpose here is to live in soul. Or could it be to remember who we are? That Light? Say nope, it’s about experiencing! (laughter)

Thomas ~ And it really isn’t bout that because so many people don’t. They don’t awaken. They don’t…they just live a human life and come back to the Light.

Alison ~ So, we get to choose what we want to experience. Which you have been saying.

Thomas ~ Yes. (laughter)

Alison ~ Thank you!

Steve ~ Thank you!

Thomas ~ You're welcome!
","author_name":"Awaken to the Light"}
