Alex has recently become a father for the first time but his journey to acquiring that title has been a little more complicated than he anticipated. Alex has a connective tissue disorder called Loeys-Dietz, a genetic condition that has been responsible for the deaths of several of his family members.</p><p><br></p><p>Alex and his wife have been on a long journey working with genetic specialists to use modern science to try and eradicate the condition for his children. We had a fascinating conversation learning about how that experience was for him and his wife, what he has learnt along the way and the difficult decisions he and his wife have had to make in starting a family.</p><p><br></p><p>This was a whole world of things I had never been exposed to before so it was a fascinating opportunity to learn about something entirely new. I hope you enjoy firing up your brain synapses as much as I did with this one.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>EPISODE LINKS</strong></p><p><br></p><p><a href=\"https://www.loeysdietz.org/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">LOEYS DIETZ SYNDROME FOUNDATION</a></p><p><a href=\"https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/e01-p-a.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">PRE IMPLANTATION GENETIC DIAGNOSIS (PGD)</a></p><p><a href=\"https://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/our-services/pgd/about-us/welcome.aspx\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">GUYS &amp; ST THOMAS PGD INFO PAGE</a></p><p><br></p><p><strong>MORE ABOUT BORN HUMAN</strong></p><p><br></p><p><a href=\"https://bornhuman.co.uk/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">WWW.BORNHUMAN.CO.UK</a></p><p>INSTAGRAM - <a href=\"https://www.instagram.com/we_are_born_human/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">WE ARE BORN HUMAN</a></p><p>INSTAGRAM - <a href=\"https://www.instagram.com/bornhumanpodcast/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">BORNHUMANPODCAST</a></p><p>FACEBOOK - <a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/BornHumanConsultancy/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">BORN HUMAN</a></p><p>LINKEDIN - <a href=\"https://www.linkedin.com/company/born-human-consultancy\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">BORN HUMAN CONSULTANCY</a></p><p><br></p><p>Contact us at <a href=\"mailto:hello@bornhuman.co.uk\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">hello@bornhuman.co.uk</a></p><p><br></p><p><strong>CREDITS</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Props as ever to <a href=\"https://open.spotify.com/artist/41xeR32yLgqBm3uHSc6eCH?si=Z2IwmlJXSaKSdFSPnTdHRQ&amp;dl_branch=1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">LONGY</a> for gracing us with his musical talents for the backdrop to this podcast.
